Spring should be just around the corner... blossoms? check. longer day light? check. warmer weather? not yet.
Looks like this winter is very loyal to this first part of 2013. On Monday snowed down 10cm in Milan and 80cm (!!!) in Courmayeur..
We are in need of warm-up cake!!!
Ingredients:
2 pears
200g sugar
200g chopped dark chocolate
2 eggs
200g plain white flour
100ml sunflower oil
200ml milk
few drops of vanilla extract
1 tsp cream of tartar
1 tsp bicarbonate of soda
Preparation:
Peel the pears and remove the core and seeds and roughly dice it, but not too big. Beat the eggs and sugar and then add all the remaining ingredients.
Paper a 25cm round cake pan with baking parchment and pour over the mix.
Bake in a preheated oven at 180˚ for 35 minutes. Check with a wooden stick, if it comes out dry the cake is ready.
Warm custard or vanilla ice-cream are a hearty treat to match!
