S'Apposentu, Siddi

"Mangiare per scoprire, cibarsi per scoprirsi"

This is the USP for S'Apposentu and you really do.
You come here because you mean to; it's in the middle of nowhere.

Siddi may be known for its pasta and Roberto made his name while in Cagliari where he got his Michelin star.
Time here is suspended, the atmosphere is so relaxed you only need to focus on food.

Sardinia's cuisine has quite a few traditional dishes but after few years of holidaying there for 10 days a year there is a sort of tiredness in going out for dinner as the options are pretty much always the same, especially in a beach resort such as Costa Rei.
MrM and I are always looking for something different and when we heard about this place we know we wouldn't be disappointed!

We chose the land tasting menu, it was a grey saturday and a storm passed leaving a breeze of cold air that put us in the mood of earthy food.
It was like a journey through Sardinian dishes, a pure discovery. Super local ingredients, expert savoir-faire and voila an incredible lunch!
Purest flavours, well balanced and combined glorifying local food in an original simple way.

Things started really well with a glass of champagne, crisp and well balanced. We got lost on a long wine list, but the sommelier recommended a nice white wine from Azienda Loi, a white cannonau Leila and it drank well for the full lunch.
Roberto doesn't cook Tuna as it's an endangered species so he proposed a "mountain tuna" a pork loin slowly cooked that looked like tuna and the taste was not too dissimilar.
My personal highlight was lasagne with sausage and asparagus! Can't wait to be back in London (well figuratively!!) and replicate them at home.

We really enjoyed the food, its simplicity and own reinterpretation of Sardinian dishes. A must try if you are in the area, and if you are not too!!!
